Python 101

A friendly Python cheat sheet for people who have never written a line of it, or haven't in a while. Run each cell, tweak it, break it, run it again.

For you if you don't know Python yet, or a for loop still feels like a magic trick.

Qiskit 101

The notebook for the morning talk with Astri Cornish from IBM Quantum. Build your first circuits, meet superposition and entanglement, then run a program on a real quantum computer.

For everyone at the Qiskit Fall Fest. Have it open on your laptop when the session starts.

Never opened a notebook?

Three ways
to open them.

Google Colab

Easiest, nothing to install. Hit Open in Colab, sign in with a Google account, and run cells with Shift + Enter. It's what we'll use on the day.

VS Code

Download the .ipynb, open it in VS Code with the Python and Jupyter extensions installed, then pick a Python 3.10+ kernel.

JupyterLab

Got Python locally? Run pip install jupyterlab, then jupyter lab in the folder you saved the notebook to.

Stuck on setup? That's what we're here for. Ask in the Discord before the day, or grab an organiser at check in.

During the hack

Read the docs.

IBM Quantum's official Qiskit guides. Mid-hack and wondering "how do I…" in Qiskit? Look it up here.

qPlinko by Sibishan Ravindran. Just to be clear, we don't condone gambling. The only thing you should be betting on is your qubits, and even they can't make up their minds.
